Mister Brin - look him up

AWESOME story by a science fiction writer I recently discovered, name David Brin:

length: about 7 pages when converted to 12 pt Times New Roman

This guy's doing what I want to do: he's writing about a beautiful future. Of course it's not perfect, but in this story he envisions life as being substantially BETTER.

Way to go, David. You are acting as a fine antenna. That term is from Terence McKenna, who also said this:

"The apocalypse is not something which is coming. The apocalypse has arrived in major portions of the planet and it's only because we live within a bubble of incredible privilege and social insulation that we still have the luxury of anticipating the apocalypse. If you go to Bosnia or Somalia or Peru or much of the third-world then it appears that the apocalypse has already arrived."

  1. Terrific Luke. You are aiming in the right direction. Far too many Hollywood sci fi stories aim to give the simpleminded thrill of feeling horrified at change. But while change CAN be dangerous, it has mostly been a friend to America and the West... and TRUE science fiction is all about exploring change, not dreading it.

That story, by the way, will be part of my new novel EXISTENCE. For similar stuff, see my older work EARTH. And THE POSTMAN, of course!

    With cordial regards,

    David Brin
